Switching blog-system now

After having posted on this blog for 1012 days I have decided to try some other software for photoblogging. Pmachine that powers this blog is now discontinued.
For some time I have been looking around for a less sophisticated yet efficient piece of software when my eyes fell upon folderblog version #3.

It is very simple to play around with, so I will give it a try - have a look at Dispatches from my global neighbourhood.

For reference I will keep this blog here.
Update your bookmarks accordingly.

It's about time now to lay our potatoes. Alberte is very eager to help her grandfather. Without her assistance the work would have been done twice as fast.
But who needs to hurry?
You can buy all the potatoes you want - this task is about introducing the miracles of Life to Alberte...

On the basis of my pictures from Tranquebar, India early last year I have just created a small flash-based feature, Tarangambadi (Tranquebar in tamil). With a Photoshop action I made the pictures look like an old Tri-x film, overexposed/underdeveloped, just for the fun of it. Adds a nice flavor. Kirsten visited the same place a few month ago and I managed to add one of her photos to the collection.

But it is also important not to forget what I learned and experienced the last two month...

I lit a candle for peace in the Monastry in Decani, Kosovo. Since 1999 the monastry has been under the protection og Italian KFOR-troops. Many other monastries has been destryed by Albanians following the war in Kosovo. This Monastry is one of the last Serbian strongholds in what they call Kosovo-Methohija. Despite any of the current conflicts the Monastry is unique and very beautiful and on UNESCOs list. You can only go there by car and under KFOR escort - they are very strict, but all efforts are rewarded to the visitor.

Today our old beloved teacher from 1958 - 1968 Mrs Inge Baggesen (during that time only titulated as "MISS Baggesen") met with three of her old students, Jens, Hans (right) and myself at Jens' place in Christianshavn.
We visited the neighboring 'Christiania', where she has not been in many years.
Being 86 years old, she is still fresh, young and curious - and very spontaneous.
Indeed a really positive and inspiring afternoon.

Looking in my calendar I was suddenly reminded that a year ago I spent some very exiting days in Basrah, Iraq. I entered the country with the ammunition clearence team of DanChurchAid and found among other things this disarmed Styx missile. See my photo series from Iraq

She had this reception in advance, the rest of us celebrate her August 28th...

When I walked through the vast cemetery of Bispebjerg today I discovered a very remote spot where someone had placed to tombstones from the expired graveyards. Littered around on very few square-meters I found inscriptions like 'missing you', 'will never forget you'.
Obviously, until we eventually forget - this is when you really expire here on Earth.

According to our family traditions Jobbe is going to have his feet washed in Grønnekilde (Green Well) to make sure springtime has finally arrived. This year, to our surprise, he abstained. The sun was shining, the temperature better than last year - but no!

(Jens took this picture at the railway station)

Anyway, we had a really nice and long walk in the forest North of Hillerød. Lots of good food in a quiet and sunny place near Grønnekilde. The forest floor was covered with anemones - a sure sign of spring time. We love this time of the year.

Right so. But after a while I discovered endless folders and subfolders on my site and a substantial time for uploading.
After a while I decided to discontinue that blog. Now I am on P-machine, 'pmaskinen' in Danish. It seems to be promising although it is the free version, I am trying.
Later I might switch to the 'pro'-version or their 'Expression engine'
